Elizabeth C. Luba
Elizabeth C. “Betty” Luba, 93, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully Friday, May 24, 2019, in TownView Health and Rehabilitation Center, Canonsburg.
She was born February 18, 1926, in Van Voohris, a daughter of the late John and Mary Adamica Luba.
Betty was raised in Hendersonville and lived her adult life in Canonsburg, where she was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church. She was a self-employed hairdresser and worked for Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services until her retirement in her late 80s, and she had been a waitress in the area for many years.
Betty was a member of the Jednota Lodge, Slovenska Narodna Podporna Jednota, Lodge 138 of Strabane, the Canonsburg Slovak Club, Sons of Italy and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 553 of Strabane.
She dearly loved her grandsons. Left behind to cherish her memory are her two devoted daughters, Paulette Luba Moyar of Canonsburg and Nancy Pearch (Dave Zaney) of Avella; grandsons Matthew Luba, Jonathan Moyar and Ian Pearch; a sister, Anne Slifcak Russell of Ohio; a brother, Paul Luba of Canonsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are four brothers, John, Tom, Frank and Joe Luba, and a sister, Ethel Vasilenko.
Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Salandra Funeral and Cremations Services Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, LFD, owner/supervisor, Darla Tripoli, LFD, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where a Catholic blessing service will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 29. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Canonsburg.
