Barbara D. Howes

Barbara D. Howes, 69, of Deemston Borough, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2019, in UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh.

She was born March 10, 1950, in Waynesburg, a daughter of the late Herbert and Anna Bane Rogers.

Mrs. Howes was a 1968 graduate of Central Greene High School.

In 2012, she retired from McDaniel’s Personal Care Home, Clarksville, where she worked as the administrator.

She enjoyed gardening, sewing, camping and motorcycle riding with her husband.

Mrs. Howes was a longtime member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher.

On March 21, 1969, she married James D. Howes, who survives. They celebrated 50 years of marriage.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two children, Byron Andrew Howes (Ann) of Clarksville and Heather McCollum (Mike) of Beallsville; six grandchildren, Kristin Howes, Courtney Howes, Taylor McCollum, Alexis McCollum, Kyle McCollum and Noah McCollum; a great-grandchild, Connor Howell; two brothers, William Rogers (Nancy) of Jefferson and John Rogers (Lee) of Carmichaels; a sister, Judith Penvose (Jay) of Houston; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in John B. Greenlee Funeral Home Ltd., 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 31, with Pastor Ed Pope officiating. Interment will follow in Beallsville Cemetery.
