Lucille E. Tomsic
Lucille E. Tomsic, 92, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully Monday, October 28, 2019. She was born August 31, 1927, in Midland, a daughter of the late Pete and Elizabeth Powell Politan.
Lucille lived most of her life in Canonsburg, where she was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers and Guild, and volunteered as a Grey Lady for 25 years at Canonsburg Hospital. She was also a member of the Carniolan Slovene Catholic Union St. Jerome Lodge 153 and the Slovene National Benefit Society Lodge 138, both of Strabane.
Lucille was a graduate of Chartiers High School and was a homemaker and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. On June 18, 1949, she married John E. Tomsic, who passed away September 23, 2010, after 61 years of marriage.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Ronald Tomsic and his wife, Elizabeth, of Canonsburg; two daughters, Patricia Polly and her husband, James, of Houston, and Lori Carter and her husband, Kevin, of Thurmont, Md.; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Polly (Lou), Nichole Sanchez (Andres), Jaison Polly (Cheryl), Justin Tomsic (Blake), Diane Winter (DaShanne), David Dipolito (Julie), Kevin Carter Jr. (Lauren), and Connor Carter (Ellie); her sister, Caroline D’Orazio and her husband, Dominick, of Canonsburg; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters Thelma Hundagen, Rosella Finney, Mildred Martiscuis and Marie Polly; and brothers Dominick, Pete and Joseph Politan.
Friends and family are welcome from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, November 2, and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m Sunday, November 3, in Salandra Funeral and Creamation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra LDF, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, (724-745-8120). Departing prayers will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday, November 4, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg. Entombment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery Mausoleum. The Christian Mothers and Guild will recite the rosary at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
