Betty Murdy
Betty Murdy, 82, of Hendersonville, formerly of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family, Wednesday, December 9, 2020.
Betty will be sadly missed by her two children, son Ralph (Rose) Murdy of Donegal, formerly of Canonsburg, and her daughter, with whom she lived with, Betty Jo (Harry) Hayman of Hendersonville; her beloved grandson, Harry “T” Hayman Jr., who was the apple of her eye.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Jean Backner of Canonsburg; her three brothers, James Backner of Canonsburg, Robert Backner of Canonsburg and Larry Backner of Seagertown.
Surviving is a sister, Patricia Martin of Meadville; brother Ronald (Shirley) Backner of Evansville, Ind.; also several nieces and nephews, who she loved dearly.
Betty was a longtime member of the Slovak Club in Canonsburg. She loved her cat, Cuddles dearly. She loved to crochet and listen to classic country music. She also enjoyed dancing, playing Bingo, her poker machines and music. Betty will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
