Catherine Yesenchak
Catherine Yesenchak, 98, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 12, 2020, in her home. She was born September 17, 1922, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late Antonio and Maria Molinaro Scarci.
Mrs. Yesenchak live her life in Canonsburg, where she was a faithful member of the St. Patrick worship site of St. Oscar Romero Parish. Catherine attended Canonsburg High School and was a devoted homemaker, wife and mother.
On May 19, 1951, she married John Yesenchak, who passed away April 25, 1997.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her beloved sons, John Yesenchak and Larry A. Yesenchak, both of Canonsburg; granddaughter Lauren Yesenchak; three sisters-in-law, Henrietta, Fran and Mary Ann Scarci; and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her two devoted caretakers, Mary Ann Harby and Cathy Rudzinski. Catherine was the last of her immediate family.
Deceased, in addition to her husband and parents, are her sisters, Carmella Compeggie, Theresa Martys and Antoinette ‘Tinnie” Deliere; brothers Louis, Frank “Fritz” and Joseph “Scratch” Scarci.
Friends and family are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 15, in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra LFD, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where departing prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 16. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the St. Patrick worship site of St. Oscar Romero Parish, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg. Entombment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Township.
Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic situation, Pennsylvania state guidelines will be strictly followed. Masks must be worn and 10 persons at a time will be admitted into the funeral home.
