Leticia Cardis

Leticia “Tish” Cardis, 73, of Monongahela, died unexpectedly Friday, December 18, 2020 in the Monongahela Valley Hospital. She was born Friday, March 28, 1947 in New Eagle, a daughter of John Zerbino and Angelina M. Vaccaro Rizzi.

Tish was a graduate of Monongahela High School and continued her education at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. She was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish in Monongahela where she was very active in many functions and activities, especially in organizing the church festival for many years.

Tish was employed in the Advertising Department of Daily Herald (Observer Reporter), the Valley Independent, and Mon Valley Tour in Monongahela.

She sold Avon for 39 years and was part of the President Club for several of those years. She was a member of many clubs and organizations, including Victory Hill Ladies Auxiliary, Monongahela Area Revitalization Corporation, St Andrew Altar Rosary Christian Mothers where she served as a past President, PTA where she was a lifetime member and past President, and the Monongahela Area Historical Society.

She is survived by two sons, Brian (Nicole) Cardis of Monongahela, David Cardis of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; two granddaughters, Alexa and Mia Cardis; sister-in-law, Ginger Rizzi of Princess Anne, Md.; several cousins, nieces, nephews and Godchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Joseph Cardis who died March 21, 2012; and her brother, Anthony Rizzi.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 22 in the Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 23 in St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, Monongahela with the Rev. William Terza as celebrant and the Rev. Patrick Barkey co-celebrant. Interment will follow in the Monongahela Cemetery.
