Richard D. Barnhill, Jr.
Richard D. Barnhill, Jr., 80, of Bradenton, FL, formerly of Washington, died Friday, December 18, 2020, after a courageous battle with several forms of cancer.
Dick was born, July 2, 1940 in Canonsburg, a son of the late Richard D. and Mary J. Edwards Barnhill.
In 1958 he graduated from Washington High School and enrolled at Washington & Jefferson College and graduated with the class of 1962. Dick was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War after he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant of the U.S .Army Infantry. Dick served with various military components, both on active and reserve duty until 1968 earning the rank of Captain.
Dick moved to Bradenton in 1974 and worked in the real estate business, owning several companies, until 1994. Mr. Barnhill joined Gator Asphalt and then APAC as Resource Director, retiring in 2009. Once again he returned to sell real estate with Wagner Realty until the time of his passing.
He served his community as a member of the Suncoast Workforce Board and the City of Bradenton Planning Committee.
Dick is survived by his loving wife, Rindy Barnhill; two sons, R. Douglas (Tibia) Barnhill of Grafton, Mass and Richard D. Barnhill, III of Phoenix City, Ala; three stepsons, David Rose and Gregory (Shannon) Perry of Bradenton and Michael Perry of Port Richey, Fla.; a brother, James E. (Fiance Linda King) Barnhill of Bradenton; several grandchildren; and a nephew, Adrian Barnhill. Deceased is a stepdaughter, Danielle Marie Mossman.
Military Rites will be accorded at a graveside service to be held January 8, 2021 in the Sarasota National Cemetery.
