Mia Denine Patterson-Cook
Mia Denine Patterson-Cook passed away at UPMC Presbyterian Sunday, December 20, 2020.
She was born in Washington and attended Washington High School. Upon completion, she attended the Harrisburg Area Community College and Bethel Park Nurse Aide training (Class of 1997). She also attended Penn Commercial College to study phlebotomy.
In the past, she was an employee at Washington Hospital, where she became the first black female supervisor in her lab.
On March 17, 2013, Mia became a licensed Minister of the Word. She went on to become a ministry member of the First Baptist Church of West Mifflin under the guidance of Pastor George A. Williams.
At the time of her death, she was employed at Patriot Home Care.
During her free time, Mia loved to restore furniture and cook vegan meals for her YouTube channel. She was also passionate about philanthropy. Amongst other things, she funded several Christmas toy drives over the years.
Mia is survived by her husband, Damon Cook; her mother, Ernestine Vaden; her children, Yavette Sterling, Alyssa Patterson, Gregory Dungee, Paris Dungee, Dorian Dungee, Nahzier Mohammad and Izaiah Patterson; her grandchildren, Mallory Winbush III, Xavier Winbush, Tationa Ferguson, Cattleya Dungee; brothers Anthony Johnson and Freddie (Renda) Patterson; sister Misty Patterson; nephew Devin Patterson; nieces Brandy and Ava Patterson; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Freddie Patterson; infant son Pierre Dungee; maternal grandparents Edward and Clara Ross Vaden; paternal grandparents Charles “Chicken” and Beatrice Young Patterson; brother Jeffrey Benson.
She is loved and will be missed by all.
