Donald S. Howard

Donald S. Howard, 70, of Mount Morris, passed away at 6:19 a.m. Thursday, January 30, 2020, at his home. He was born in Waynesburg, February 19, 1949, a son of the late John Sherwood and Bertha Tillie Bell Howard.

Donald was a resident of Dunkard Township all of his life. He retired in 2001 after working 38 years as a long wall operator and later a supervisor from the USX Kirby Mine. Donald enjoyed hunting, fishing, operating his family farm, and operating and working on his Ford pickup truck. In addition, he liked classic country music and cherished his grandchildren. Donald was a member of the United Mine Workers of America.

Surviving are three sons, Donald S. Howard Jr. of Butler, Michael Howard of Dilliner and Jonathan S. Howard, at home; three daughters, Tammy Mayle of Morgantown, W.Va., Tracey Atwood of Dilliner and Diane Howard of Uniontown; several grandchildren; a brother, John Edward Howard (Shirley) of Greensboro; and several nieces and nephews including Franklin Howard (Patty), Bertha Howard, Scott Howard, Amy Ponzoo and Lori Rankin.

Deceased are a daughter, Brittany Howard; a brother, Gary Howard; and two sisters, Donelda V. Self and Betty Jean Howard.

Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, February 2, in Yoskovich Funeral Home, (724-966-5500), Martin J. Yoskovich, funeral director, 300 South Vine Street (Route 88), Carmichaels, where the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 3, with the Rev. Virginia Eberhart officiating. Interment will follow at Garards Fort Cemetery.
