Genevieve Price
Genevieve J. Price, 81, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 25, 2020, in Washington Hospital.
She was born January 13, 1939, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late Fred and Julia Dellorso Santoro.
She was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers and Guild. She was a graduate of Canonsburg High School, where she was a majorette in the band.
Genevieve attended the Pittsburgh Beauty Academy and was employed as a hairdresser at Fillipos in the east end of Canonsburg for 19 years. She had been employed as a cafeteria cook with the Canon-McMillan School District and prior to her retirement was at Cecil Middle School.
Mrs. Price enjoyed fishing at Lake Wilhelm, bowling, gardening, tending to her flowers, and watching her birds. She camped at Vacationland Campground in Sandy Lake for 40 years. Genevieve was strong, caring and faithful, always putting the needs of others first. Her kindness, love and unselfish nature touched many lives.
On November 22, 1958, she married Robert C. Price, who passed away Friday, November 19, 2006, after 47 years of marriage. Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Kimberly Jo Barkac and husband Michael of Maine, and Holly Ann Tropeck and her husband Wayne of Avella; her brother, Anthony F. Santoro and wife Sandra of Washington; and her sister, Theresa Perani and husband Linden of Canonsburg; seven grandchildren, Christopher and Jeramiah Barkac, Jessica and Julia Price, Garett, Lilly and Urijah Tropeck; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her husband and parents, are her son, Robert A. Price, who passed away August 11, 2019, and her sister, Rosalie Fragapane, who passed away August 28, 2019.
Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra, LFD, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where a Catholic Blessing Service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 2. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. The Christian Mothers and Guild will recite the Rosary at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
