Betty J. Sondheimer

Betty J. Sondheimer, 93, of Washington, died Wednesday, December 25, 2019, in her home.

She was born August 11, 1926, in Washington, a daughter of the late William and Florence Allen Lank.

Betty worked in the kitchen at the Union Grill in Washington and volunteered for many years at the Washington City Mission.

In her free time, she enjoyed doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, as well as watching country westerns and “The Golden Girls.”

In December 1950, in Washington, she married Nathan “Sonny” Sondheimer, who died July 21, 1993.

Surviving are a daughter, Donna Sondheimer of Washington; two grandsons, Joshua and Dustin Sondheimer; and two great-grandchildren, Franklin and Ariona Sondheimer.

Deceased are several brothers and sisters.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 4, in Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, with Pastor Larry Leonard officiating. All other services are private.

Arrangements are entrusted to Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Directors Inc., Charles R. Piatt, owner/supervisor, Lawrence K. Donovan and Andrew C. Piatt, directors.
