Mary Mazza Encandela
Mary Mazza Encandela, 94, of Houston, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2020, with her family by her side. She was born June 22, 1925, in Washington, a daughter of the late Anthony Mazza and Lucy Mazza DeLuca.
On September 24, 1949, she married her beloved husband, John J. Encandela, who passed away May 8, 2013.
Surviving are a daughter, Donna (Rubin Richards) Shriver of Houston; a son, John A. (Gary Covey) Encandela of Long Island, N.Y.; two grandsons, Michael Maloy and Greg (Heather) Shriver; a great-granddaughter, Mya Maloy; a great-grandson, Emmet Shriver; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are her stepfather, Charles DeLuca; four sisters, Antoinette Parrino, Rose Matyuf, Catherine Gargarella and Teresa Mazza; four brothers, John, Joe, Dominic and Samuel Mazza.
Mary was the last surviving sibling of both her and her husband’s families.
Friends are welcome from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, January 12, in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner / supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120. The Christian Mothers and Guild will recite the rosary at 2 p.m. in the funeral home. Departing prayers will be held at 9:20 a.m. Monday, January 13.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Canonsburg.
