Carmen I. Samila
Carmen I. Samila, 89, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully Monday, January 20, 2020, following an extended illness.
She was born August 24, 1930, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Joseph and Bessie Moravec Hajek.
A graduate of Mars High School, Carmen was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church and a homemaker who, when she had been in better health, volunteered at the City Mission Hidden Treasures store in Canonsburg.
On May 6, 1961, she married John Samila, who passed away September 18, 2001.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her beloved children, Lovey Marie Samila (Ken Repko) and Mark John Samila and wife Regina, both of Canonsburg; her granddaughters, Jennifer (Callie) Samila, Meeghan Samila (Alex) and Valentine Remmel; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her husband and parents, are her granddaughter, Caitlin Marie Samila, who passed away June 5, 2012, and her sister, Virginia Early.
At Mrs. Samila’s request, there will be no public visitation or services. Private interment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
