Michael Daniel Sabarese III

Michael Daniel Sabarese III, 67, of Finleyville, a former 40-year resident of Richeyville, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2020, in Washington Health System.

He was born September 12, 1952, in Pittsburgh, the oldest of eight children born of the late Michael Sabarese and Barbara Loughrey Sabarese, who survives.

Michael was a 1970 graduate of Baldwin High School.

Mr. Sabarese was a career military veteran serving in the Army and Air Force Reserves for 28 years. His last station was the 32nd Aerial Port Squadron. For his service, he received the Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal with 2 Service Stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon with Gold Border with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, AF Longevity Service with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with 4 M Devices with 2 Hour Glass Devices, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon (Rifle) and AF Training Ribbon with Gold Border with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters. He was also employed for 14 years by the Beth Center School District.

Michael enjoyed reading books, camping, time spent with his family, always staying in touch, his two dogs, especially his Beagle named Peanut. He especially enjoyed his extensive travel while in the military, which took him to some faraway places such as Japan, Alaska and Bahrain.

Mr. Sabarese was a member of the Hancock-McCune-Horne American Legion Post #705 Centerville.

On August 11, 1973, he married Juanita Kirk Sabarese, who survives. They celebrated 46 years of marriage.

Surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, are a daughter, Barbara Mae Knox (Colin) of Monongahela; six siblings, Edward Sabarese (Judy) of Bridgeville, Valerie Spenser (George) of Canonsburg, Patty Reese of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Cindy Potts (Raymond) of Bridgeville and Donna Kuchena (Mark), also of Bridgeville, Don Sabarese (Melissa) of Tampa Fla.; 22 nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his father, is a brother, Ronald Sabarese.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 4, in John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, Ltd., 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 5, with Major William Mullins, Chaplain officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the 911th Air Lift Wing and the 32nd Arial Port Squadron of Pittsburgh along with the Centerville American Legion. Private interment will be held in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 600 River Avenue, Suite 400, Pittsburgh, PA 15212, or the Washington Area Human Society, P.O. Box 66, Eighty Four, PA 15330.
