Mary Pearl Sweany Hickman

Mary Pearl Sweany Hickman, 105, formerly of Washington, passed away Friday, June 19, 2020.
She was born February 9, 1915, in Deemston Borough, a daughter of the late Clyde Alton and Pearl Bane Sweany
Mrs. Hickman was a 1932 graduate of East Bethlehem High School.
A homemaker, Mary was also employed in the Housekeeping Department of Washington Hospital.
Before relocating to Washington, Mrs. Hickman was an active member of the East Bethlehem Baptist Church in Deemston.
Since 1969 she has been a member of the Friendship Community Church, Washington, where she was a member of the choir.
She enjoyed attending family gatherings and attending church functions and crossword puzzles.
On September 26, 1932, she married Allen “Grump” Hickman who passed away June 28, 1975. They had been married 42 years at the time of his death.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald Hickman (Peg) of Ellsworth and Wayne Hickman (Jane) of Winston, Ohio; two daughters-in-law, Cathy Hickman and Elaine Hickman; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are two sons, Thomas A. Hickman and Howard Lee Hickman; four brothers, Edgar, Clyde, John and Leonard Sweany; five sisters, Catherine Sweany, Evelyn Powers, Helen Youhouse, Ruth Riggle and Vivian Sweany.
A private visitation will be held Wednesday, June 24, in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home Ltd., 2830 Main Street, Beallsville. Family and friends are invited to a Public Graveside Service to be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, in the Beallsville Cemetery. The Rev. George Lamay will officiate.
