Beverly D. Purk

Beverly D. Purk, 73, of Canonsburg, died Monday, March 15, 2021, in Bradenton, Fla.

She was born March 23, 1947, in Uniontown, a daughter of Fred E. Howarth and Dora P. Fleming Howarth. She was also the stepdaughter of Shirley McDonald Howarth.

She retired from Western Center and went on to work at the Slovene National Benefit Society (SNPJ) in Strabane.

She was a long-time member of Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church, where she served as a lay worship leader.

Her husband, Robert Purk, died May of 2008. Her two stepdaughters, Bobbi Jo and Kathy Jo Purk, also preceded her in death.

Surviving are her granddaughter, Cassandra Laughlin (fiance Joshua Kozak) of Canonsburg; grandson Terrell McClain (Valerie); and two great-granddaughters, Brynn and Kaia McClain of Germany.

Also surviving are three sisters, Beatrice Affleck of Peters Township, Barbara Willson (Robert) of St. Albans, W.Va., and Beth Anderson (Jeff) of Muse; several loving nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews; and her two best friends, Linda Grant (Don) of Woodlyn and Sue Renaud (Ray) of Dearborn Heights, Mich.

A celebration of Bev’s life will be held Saturday, April 10, in Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. with the service following at 11, with Pastor Don Coleman officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church, ASPCA or St. Jude’s Hospital.
