Selena M. Verner Rivera

Selena M. Verner Rivera, 43, of Washington, passed into the arms of her Heavenly Father Thursday, April 8, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 16, 1977, in Washington.

Selena was a 1995 graduate of McGuffey High School and attended Waynesburg College. She was a force like no other – kind, openminded, a great loving mother and wife who loved life and spending time with friends. She had an infectious laugh, smile and loving heart. She will be greatly missed on this Earth, but so rejoiced in heaven.

Oh, what a glorious day it was October 24, 2020, when she married the love of her life, James Rivera, who survives.

She was a loving mother to son Gage Verner and beautiful daughter Mariska N. Kovatch; a precious daughter of Barry (Denise) Verner and Kathy Bebout Haney. Also surviving are a brother, Christopher (Lindsey) Haney; sister Heather (William) Grandon; half sister Korrie Davis of Texas; stepbrother Jason Corey; stepsister Christina Gentile; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who were all a part of her family, especially Amanda.

She was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Jese and Martha Verner; and maternal grandparents Robert and Katherine Bebout.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, in the Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington. A guest book may be signed at Nichol Funeral Home, Washington, at nicholfuneralhome.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington, PA 15301, to assist the family with funeral expenses.
