Stanley Rozmus
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stanley Rozmus Saturday, April 17, 2021. He was a light in this world and now we need to continue to shine his light by carrying it within.
Stanley “Stush” was born April 25, 1924, a son of the late Matthew and Frances Bonk Rozmus. On October 21, 1950, he married the late Marcella Pokrzywa.
Stanley was a U.S. Army decorated war veteran, serving in World War II and the Philippines. He was honorably discharged and awarded the purple heart.
Stanley retired from Climax Molybdenum after 42 years where he worked as an electrician. He enjoyed long Sunday drives “to look at the scenery” (much to the dismay of his daughters), he loved polka dancing, gardening and tending his property (where cutting the grass became a science); he enjoyed attending family gatherings, tinkering in the garage and nurturing birds and rabbits.
He instilled in his daughters a firm work ethic, a love for the ocean and music.
Stanley is survived by two daughters, Cheryl (Jim) Parko and Carol (Dale) Porchiran; grandchildren, Jamie (Shane) Maga, Marcy (Derek) Miller and Christopher (Beth) Porchiran; great-grandchildren, Logan, Parker, Reese and Conner; sister, Helen (Cherok); and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by sisters, Pauline Wysocki, Mary Czarnecki, Louise Yakima, Julia Sray and Josephine Piernak; brothers, Frank, John, Mike and Joe.
Friends and family will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, in Young Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 23 Erie Mine Road, Burgettstown PA, 15021, 724-947-2049, www.youngfhinc.com. The burial will be private.
A celebration of life will be held for the Hawthorne Woods Assisted Living Community residents, staff and The Gateway Hospice team on Stanley’s 97th birthday, April 25, 2021.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it is asked that everyone wear a face mask and/or covering and remain socially distant from one another in the funeral home.
