Edna M. Laing Bain
Edna M. Laing Bain, 99, of Midway, passed away peacefully Friday, April 2, 2021, in South Carolina, two days before her 100th birthday.
Edna was born April 4, 1921, in Midway, a daughter of the late Adam and Hazel Crawford Laing.
Mrs. Bain was a graduate of Midway High School and a retired receptionist for a local doctor. Edna lived for being an active member of her church, Center United Presbyterian Church, in Midway. Church was a large part of her life; anytime there was a way for Edna to volunteer, she would be there. Edna was also a member of her church choir and the Sunday school. Edna loved her church community, and would do anything for the church that did so much for her. Mrs. Bain was the president of the Midway Senior Citizens group and enjoyed playing on the church dartball team.
Being so close to her 100th birthday, Edna lived a long and beautiful life, and spent much time with her family. Edna loved each member of her family in a unique way; she was the best wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend that anyone could ask for.
Surviving are her daughter, Marcia (the late Nick) Wagner of South Carolina; grandchildren Michelle (Rich) Witt and Gregory (Brandi) Holt; great-grandchildren Abby, Emily and Logan Witt, and Alex and Sean Holt.
Along with her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Nelson Bain (2012); and siblings Doris Jean Baird, Ila Clark and Harry Laing.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service at noon Saturday, May 1, 2021, in Center United Presbyterian Church, 110 Washington Avenue, Midway.
