Donnis L. Carter Strope
Donnis L. Carter Strope, 84, of Maple Lane in Waynesburg, passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2021, in her home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born April 24, 1937, in Bristoria, a daughter of the late Frank and Nelle Riggs Carter of Bristoria.
Donnis graduated from Rogersville High School in 1953. She married Melvin Strope August 8, 1958, and was a homemaker.
Donnis lived in Greene County her whole life and was a member of the Windy Gap Church in Aleppo. She enjoyed listening to music especially gospel, flowers, reading and cooking. Donnis loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband; and three children, Mary (Stephen Jobes) Strope of Cameron, W.Va., Ruth (Billy) Williams of Sevierville, Tenn., and Rodney Strope of Waynesburg; six grandchildren, Jonathan (Devon) Ross of Ryerson, Garth King of Mountain City, Tenn., Kendra (Andy) Lethco of Sevierville, Tenn., Tabitha (William) Smith of Kodak, Tenn., Sierra (Adam Crawford) Campbell of Jollytown and Tyson Williams of Sevierville; 10 great-grandchildren, Marilyn and Bryce King-Molloy, Haylin and Maddie Smith, Elaina Daugherty, Lily Crawford, Saphira, Keelan, Remington Ross and Lincoln Lethco; sister-in-law Janet Carter of Folsom, W.Va.; and four cousins, Barb Carter-Herring, Joy Carter-Anderson, Judy Carter-Beresford and Anna Marie Simms.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Donnie and Dale Carter.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., the time of a funeral service, Saturday, May 1, in Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC, 3275 W. Roy Furman Highway, Rogersville, PA 15359, telephone 724-499-5181, with Pastor Tom Singo officiating.
