Dennis Richey Chabassol passed from this life Thursday, July 29, 2021. He was a dedicated husband and best friend to Mary Jo Chabassol for 42 years and 3 months. Together, they enjoyed dancing to oldies and polkas, motorcycle rides, and visiting wineries.

Dennis served his family and friends with humor and hospitality. As an insurance salesman, he gave extreme care to his clients who usually became his lifelong friends.

Dennis attended car shows and dirt track races. Every year, he and Mary Jo traveled to Charlotte, N.C., to see the World of Outlaws. An avid outdoorsman, he hunted all over Washington County. He liked boat fishing on Dutch Fork Lake, cooking over campfires, and smoking good pipe tobacco. Dennis listened to loud music, especially Pink Floyd, through his vintage, hifi stereo.

His grandkids knew him as “silly pap pap,” and he loved hosting sleepover parties for them and making “poppity poppity popcorn.” His family misses him very much. Dennis took pride in his daughter, Yvonne, his little mechanic, who can fix anything, his son, Stephen, who was the first person on Dennis’ side of the family to earn a college degree, and his daughter-in-law, Elissa, who he affectionately called “Rev” after she became a minister. He loved his grandkids, Rhianna, Melody, Imanuel “Manny” and Jubilee.

Dennis graduated from Canon-McMillan High School in 1960 and was the son of Edward and Marion Chabassol of McDonald (Gilmore). He was the big brother of Doug and Sharon and a father figure to his beloved nephews, Ritchie and Kris Hornak.

A memorial service followed by a dinner will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, August 7, in Lincoln Place Church of the Nazarene, 5604 Interboro Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15207.
