John G. Burns
John G. Burns, 88, of Waynesburg, died Tuesday, August 3, 2021. He was born September 8, 1932, in Rich Hill, a son of the late Morris and Irene Wiley Burns.
John proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Wind Ridge American Legion, Post 0416 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 267.
He was a graduate of Penn Commercial College and worked for Columbia Gas for more than 25 years until his retirement.
He is survived by his children, Steve (Amber) Burns and Sue (Dan) Hamm; grandchildren Alivia, Zoe, Stephen and Walker Burns, and Ryan, Justin and Shannon Hamm; sister Sara Sue (George) Mazzei; also several nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his brothers, Jim, Jack and Frank Burns.
John loved fishing and hunting and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He also enjoyed dog racing and spending time with his grandchildren.
Military honors will be celebrated at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, August 7, at Veterans Memorial, 918 Rolling Meadows Road, Waynesburg, PA 15370.
