Arvonia Meriweather
Arvonia Meriweather, 82, of Washington, died Thursday, August 5, 2021, in Transitions Health Care.
She was born May 10, 1939, in Waynesboro, Ga., a daughter of the late Lewis Meriweather Sr. and Beatrice Gilchrist Meriweather.
Ms. Meriweather attended Washington High School and worked in housekeeping at local hotels.
She loved her family, gospel music and babysitting children, and enjoyed family cookouts, traveling, and going to AMI.
Ms. Meriweather was a Seventh Day Adventist, attending church in the Hill District, Pittsburgh.
Surviving are her daughter, Felicia Ann (Mannuel) Johnson of Washington; a brother, Marvin T. (Martha May) Meriweather Sr. of Washington; a granddaughter, Beatricia Renae Meriweather of Washington; three great-grandchildren, Harlem, Journey and Brave; many nieces and nephews including Marvin (Amy) Meriweather Jr., Kevin James (Jackie) Meriweather, Zelphia (Sonny) Meriweather, Theresa (Frank) Meriweather, Randy (Cathy) Jackson, Lou Meriweather, Brian Meriweather, Melinda Meriweather and Miranda Meriweather; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Deceased are siblings Lewis Meriweather Jr., Mildred Meriweather, Nancy Meriweather, James Meriweather and Zearolean Meriweather.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 10, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Additional visitation will be held in the funeral home from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m., the time of service, Wednesday, August 11.
