Alfred L. Rasel
Alfred L. “Fred” Rasel, 81, of Lone Pine, died August 19, 2021, in The Washington Hospital.
He was born April 30, 1940, in Amity, a son of the late Leroy A. Rasel and Flora Mae Ullom Rasel.
A 1958 graduate of West Bethlehem High School, and a veteran of the Army National Guard, Mr. Rasel worked as an electrician for the United Mine Workers at Marianna Mine #58, retiring in 1988. He then worked at PennDOT, retiring in 2005, and served as a supervisor for West Bethlehem Township.
Mr. Rasel was a member of Lone Pine Christian Church, Marianna American Legion Post 744, and the Shriners. In addition, he was a 32nd degree Mason and member of Coudersport Consistory and Beallsville Masonic Lodge 237.
Mr. Rasel enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going to his cabin in Marienville.
Family was most important to him, and he loved spending time with his family and close friends.
On June 29, 1963, he married Frances M. Miller, who survives.
Also surviving are three children, Melissa A. Mega of Lone Pine, Tracy L. Skariot (Mike) of Washington, and Fred L. Rasel II (Bobbie Lynn) of Washington; 11 grandchildren, Scott Mega (Dianna), Tyler Mega, Will Skariot, Nicholas Skariot, Owen Skariot, Alexas Skariot, Levi Rasel (Jamie), Alec Rasel, Abby Mae Rasel, Addie Alderson and Andrew Alderson; and three great-grandchildren, Clay, Carson, and Lincoln.
He is also survived by his Siberian Husky, Stormy, and a special family friend, Ed Roth.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7 p.m., the time of service, on Monday, August 23, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 24, in Lone Pine Cemetery. Those attending are to meet at the cemetery. Military rites will be accorded graveside by Marianna Legion Post 744.
