Bernard J. Sosnak
Bernard J. “Sacks” Sosnak, 89, of Coal Center, (West Pike Run Township) passed away Thursday, August 19, 2021 in his home.
He was born February 5, 1932, in Granville, a son of the late Joseph and Beatrice McMurdo Sosnak.
Mr. Sosnak was a 1950 graduate of California Area High School.
He was employed by Peoples Gas in Mon City as a heavy equipment operator for 30 years retiring in 1989.
Bernard was a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church.
“Sacks” was active in sports most of his life. He played softball for various local teams and played in the Senior League until he was 80 years old. He was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and spending time at his cabin in Warren County.
On May 17, 1951 he married Waneeta “Edie” Deems Sosnak who survives. They celebrated 70 years of marriage.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Brenda Sosnak and Stacey Kubala (Dennis) both of Coal Center; three grandchildren, Zakary, Alex and Tyler Kubala; one great- grandchild, Benjamin Kubala; several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are an infant son, Bradley Sosnak; two sisters, Annette Bostich and Marilyn Spellman; one brother, Robert Sosnak.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Greenlee’s Bentleyville Funeral Home, 619 Main St. Bentleyville, PA where funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 24, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Ken Custer officiating.
