Edwin C. Farrington Jr.
Edwin C. Farrington Jr., 88, of Washington, passed away, surrounded by his loving family, Thursday, December 23, 2021. Edwin was born January 27, 1933, in Duquesne, to Edwin and Elsie Farrington.
Ed leaves behind his wife of 32 years, Janet Moore Farrington; his sister, Dorothy S. Via; children, Edwin E. (Kim) Farrington, Francis D. (Deborah) Routh, Michelle R. (Michael) Pesta; stepchildren, Sue Esworthy, Kim (James) Williams, Vickie (George) Trosky, Lisa (Gary) Petruzzi; grandchildren, Chad Farrington, Brooke (Ron) Sopko, Jamie Farrington, Joseph (Crissy) Routh, Sarah Routh, Michael (Lauren) Pesta, Christopher Pesta, James (Kate) Williams and Michael Petruzzi; great-grandchildren, Ronald Sopko, Payton Sopko, Develin Sopko, Scarlet Sopko, Quincy Podboy, Victoria Routh, Colton Routh, Callie Williams, Cole Williams, Dominic Petruzzi; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ed was a graduate of Munhall High School and attended North Eastern University. He proudly served with the Coast Guard in Alaska during the Korean War.
Ed was a bus driver with the Port Authority for many years and then moved into management and was the director of safety and training for the Port Authority. One of his greatest achievements was developing the safety plans for the light rail system in Pittsburgh. After retiring, Ed did construction work as Colonel Crash Construction for about 10 years.
Ed was a member and four time past master of the Duquesne McKeesport Masonic Lodge #731 for over 65 years. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars West Mifflin Post #914 and American Legion Post #490 in Castle Shannon. He loved target shooting with family and friends and was a lifetime member of the Collier’s Sportsman Club. Ed was also a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church in Washington.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 27, in the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills, PA 15236.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 28, in Faith United Presbyterian Church, 900 E. Beau Street, Washington, PA 15301.
