John Soma
John Soma, 94, of Canonsburg, died Thursday, February 4, 2021.
He was born July 26, 1926, in Smock, a son of Peter and Anna Gaydoshak Soma.
Mr. Soma was a member of the Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed gardening, bird feeding and tinkering with things. He proudly served his country with the United States Marines. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 and the Muse Italian Club.
Prior to his retirement, he worked as an electrical tester at Cooper.
Surviving are his sons, Richard Soma of Memphis, Tennessee, Robert Soma of Spartanburg, South Carolina; his daughter, Carol (Gary) Schlieper of Finleyville; his brother, Charles Soma; his grandchildren, Jason (Chandley) Soma, Kristofer (Sally) Soma, Carrie (Kevin) Keefe, Jonathan Soma, David (Paige) Soma, Shea Soma, Caitlin (Andrew) O’Fee; great-grandchildren, Gabriella, Violet, Charlotte, Sophia, Scarlett and Franchesca.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Gloria Soma, who died July 14, 2012; his brothers, Michael, Peter and Andrew Soma; his sisters, Mary Freeland, Anne Soma, Helen Soma, Elizabeth Soma and Nellie Soma.
