William N. Gordon
William N. “Corky” Gordon, 88, of Avella, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, February 4, 2021 in his home.
He was born March 26, 1932, in Avella, a son of the late Mickey B. and Mary Pekarscik Gordon.
Mr. Gordon attended Avella High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during Korea with the rank of Airman Second Class in the 17th Bombardment Wing Light Eglin Auxiliary #9.
Corky worked as an electrician for Weirton Steel Corporation for 38 years, retiring in 1987.
He was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church and was a former member of Bert C. Siders American Legion Post 643 and Polar Star Mutual Benefit Society all of Avella.
In his youth, he was an avid fisherman and hunter. Corky liked going to flea markets, watching sports on television and he loved to attend all of his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events through the years.
On March 2, 1957, in St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, he married Helen Joann Kosarik, who survives.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 63 years, are four children, William K. (Cathy) Gordon, Judy (Richard) Soltesz, Bruce (Kellie) Gordon and Brian (Michele) Gordon, all of Avella; three grandchildren, Stephanie (Jonathan) Golembiewski, Richard Soltesz and Brian Gordon; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Gordon; brother-in-law, Joseph Kosarik Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, is a grandson, William J. “Billy” Gordon; and a brother, Robert A. Gordon.
All funeral arrangements are private and have been entrusted to Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home, Inc., Avella. Burial will be in West Point Cemetery, Avella.
