Betty E. Murray
Betty E. Murray, 95, of Washington, died Friday, February 5, 2021, in her home, where she lived independently.
She was born November 1, 1925, in Wellsburg, W.Va., a daughter of the late Franklin Minton and Alice Moore Knox.
Betty retired from Washington Hospital in 1988, where she worked as a nurse’s aide.
She was a member of Friendship Community Church, where she sang in the church choir, and often sang solos. She would often visit nursing homes to sing for the residents.
Betty loved to crochet, do word search puzzles, and read.
On September 24, 1943, Betty married Clyde R. Murray, who died March 14, 1993.
Surviving are three children, daughter Sherry (Frank) Holuta of Indiana, son Charles (Diane Kurtz) Murray of Atlasburg, daughter Darla (Michael) McCauley of Washington; and daughters-in-law Judy Murray and Karen Murray; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was also predeceased by a daughter, Judy Murray; and three sons, Clyde “Butch” Murray Jr., Larry Murray and William Murray.
Betty is the last survivor of her siblings – three brothers and two sisters are deceased. She loved her family and children.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, all services are private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Washington Area Senior Citizens Center, Meals on Wheels Program, 69 W. Maiden Street, Washington, PA 15301.
