Paul Sharkady Sr.
Paul Sharkady Sr., 84, of Canonsburg, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2021, at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born June 12, 1936, in Vestaburg, a son of the late Michael and Mary Billak Sharkady.
Paul was a 1954 graduate of Centerville High School, where he met his wife Wanda Jollick and later married May 21, 1960. After high school, Paul attended West Virginia University where he majored in physical education and played football for four years.
Paul served as a Canonsburg police officer for 37 years, retiring in 2001. He enjoyed spending time with his son Paul, working on the farm and cherished the time he spent with his wife and grandchildren.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 22, once serving as past president, a lifetime member of the Moose Club and a member of the Elks Lodge #776.
Left behind to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 60 years, Wanda Jollick Sharkady of Canonsburg; son, Paul Sharkady Jr. and his wife Kathy of Canonsburg; grandchildren, Christopher Sharkady and Brianna Kelley and her husband Scott; sister, Julia Moore of Bristol, R.I.; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are five brothers and three sisters.
Friends and family are welcome from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 16, in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where a service will be held by the Fraternal Order of the Police, Lodge 22, at 7 p.m. followed by a Parastas Service at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 17, in the funeral home. Father John Kotalik, pastor of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, will preside.
Interment will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill.
