Sophia E. Pethtel
Sophia E. Pethtel, 71, passed away peacefully, in the presence of her children, Monday, February 15, 2021.
Sophia was a daughter of the late Charles J. and Eileen Shimek of Carnegie; sister of the late Charles M. Shimek of Oakdale and Betty (Chuck) McGinnis of Carnegie.
Sophia was the cherished wife of the late Edward W. Pethtel Sr. Her most treasured title, however, was mother of six children, Erik (Holly) of Burgettstown, Cindy (Randy) of Irondale, Claude (Gwen) of Georgetown, Kim (Carl) of Weirton, Melissa (Bob) of Monongahela, William (Heather) of Mingo Junction; and a proud grandmother of 18 grandchildren.
Sophia was a Mom to so many; she would love without limit to those who needed it throughout her years! Her spirit was infectious, and the light and laughter she brought to those she encountered are unforgettable.
Friends and family are invited to a tribute of her life from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, February 20, in Hanover Volunteer Fire Department, 9 Starck Drive, Burgettstown, PA 15021. A memorial service will take place at 2 p.m. by Pastor Rhodes from Weirton Alliance Church.
