Laurie Lee Malson
Laurie Lee Malson, 59, of West Alexander passed away in her home surrounded by family and friends Friday, February 19, 2021.
She was born February 28, 1961, daughter of Lonnie and Theda Church.
Laurie is preceded in death by her in-laws, Sonny, Sue and Scot Malson; and her brother, Lonnie Church, Jr.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jeff Malson, Sr. of 42 years; son, Jeff, Jr. (Jessica) Malson; daughter, Jennifer (Teresa Campbell) Malson; brother-in-law, Ed (Tammy) Malson; grandchildren, Shyanne, Cadance, Eva, Bentlee and Olivia; sisters, Janet Trager, Jeanne (Mike) Stephenson, Jackie Jones, Cris Church; vacation roommate buddy, Kristie Wood; nephew, Gerry Trager; and several other nieces and nephews.
Laurie grew up mostly in West Alexander, in her earlier days of marriage, she was a stay at home mom and raised Jeff, Jr. and Jennifer. Now, she tries to keep all her grandchildren under her wings, they all called her, “Gigi”.
Laurie loved sports, was an awesome softball player, and then when her daughter, Jennifer, got older, Laurie was her coach. She also loved to travel and her favorite place to go was the beach.
She was a manager of the Dairy Queen at Dallas Pike for years, hiring her son, daughter and many nephews and nieces. She became good friends with Lisa Little and had such a connection with all the kids, she was hard on them, but helped to shape and mold their future. She also had a big heart of gold, taking in her nephew, Gerry.
She also worked at Med-Express for several years as a front office assistant, making several great friendships. She has been at home taking care of herself, along with her husband, daughter, son, nephew, grandchildren and Princess, her Pitbull.
Friends will be received 12 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St., Wheeling, WV 26003 304-242-2311. Services will be held at the convenience of the family with Pastor Randy Polan and Pastor Kandy Dunn officiating.
