Richard D. Ansell

Richard D. Ansell, 87, of Marianna, passed away at his home, Saturday, February 20, 2021.

He was born April 30, 1933, in Marianna, a son of the late Harry Donald Ansell and Margaret Ansell.

Richard was a crane operator for U.S. Steel, retiring from Edgar Thomson Works after 42 years.

He enjoyed working on vehicles, appliances, etc. and was sought after by many for his ability to fix practically anything.

He was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and American Legion Post 0744, and served on the Horne’s Cemetery Board. He played for the church’s Fellowship Dartball team. He volunteered his time for various local organizations.

On October 3, 1962, he married JoAn Shriver Ansell, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Linda (Rodney) Hinton and Brenda (Scott) Hermann; two grandchildren, Kayleigh (Mike) Renner and Sierra Hermann; a brother, Earl Ansell; his most favorite sister, Ruth Phillips; a sister-in-law, Mary Lemley; several nieces and nephews; and his two cats, Fifi and Fritz.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are a brother, Harold Ansell; and a brother-in-law, Ralph Lemley.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, Ltd., 2830 Main Street, Beallsville. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be no services at this time.
