Charles E. Riggs Jr.
Charles E. Riggs Jr., was born December 21, 1937, in Oak Forest, and passed Wednesday, February 24, 2021, peacefully in his sleep, beside his loving wife of 23 years, in their Washington home following a month of hospice care.
He was a son of Charles Riggs and Margaret Spraggs Riggs.
As a young boy, Charles grew up in Oak Forest, delivering newspapers and helping his grandfather, Isaac Newton Riggs, on the farm and later doing contracting work and moving houses.
He then went on to work on automobiles and pump gas at The Greene Street Garage, and managed The Creamery in Waynesburg.
He moved on to start as a foreman at Accurate Brass Corporation in Brave, and worked his way up to vice president/general manager, retiring in 2003 after 35 years.
Charles is survived by his wife, Cheryl; daughter Candice (Gary) of Washington; son Charles (Beth) of Waynesburg; and a son, James (Joyce) of Washington; as well as five sisters and a brother, Marjorie (Dick) Statler of Ohio, Maxine (Marshall) Masters of Florida, Wanda (Chuck) Acklin of North Carolina, Charlene (Bill) Reed of Michigan, Cherylann (Brad) Wise of Florida and Donald (Renee) of Colorado.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Charlie Riggs; a stepson, Barrett Miller; and a sister and brother-in-law, Mardell and Bill Husk.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, all services are private.
