George Kontos
George “Panda” Kontos, 82, of Whitehall, formerly of Canonsburg, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2021, in Largo, Fla. He was born April 12, 1938, in McKeesport, a son of the late Paraskevas “Pete” and Sevasti Kontomanoli.
George was a butcher by trade, starting at Apollo Grocery in Canonsburg. He worked at several other grocery stores over the years including Verscharens, Baldwin Foodland and Beechview Foodland.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his daughter, Debra Presy; grandson, Matt Presy and wife Gina; granddaughter Leah Presy; great-grandsons Andre and Kai Vea, Reid and Luke Presy; his sister, Christine Kontomanoli of Canonsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, is his beloved wife, Mary Kontos. His family will surely miss their “Pappy.” May his memory be eternal.
Private services will be held in All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 601 W. McMurray Road, Canonsburg.
