Frank Stechly Jr.
Frank “Butch” Stechly Jr., 89, formerly of Charleroi, passed away Monday, January 4, 2021, at Canonsburg Hospital, with his family present. He was born September 15, 1931, in Scenery Hill, a son of the late Frank and Agnes Kaplan Stechly Sr.
After 30 years of service, he retired from the Bethlehem Mine Corporation where he worked in maintenance. He was a Corporal in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954.
In his retirement years, he shared his love for fishing and had spent many days fishing with his daughters which will be memories cherished for many years to come. He had a special talent of being able to make people smile with his sense of humor and the twinkle in his hazel blue eyes. He always had a soft spot in his heart for his children and he would always acknowledge his love for them with a heart-warming smile when their names were mentioned. He will be dearly missed by his family.
He leaves behind his four children, Stephen Stechly of Apopka, Fla.; Renee Stechly of Canonsburg, Colleen (Gary) Johnson of Kane and Kenneth (Lisa) Stechly of Kissimmee, Fla.; two stepchildren, Lynn (Stacie) Hustava and Melissa Stech. In addition, he is the grandfather of Trisha (William) Paronish, Michael Johnson, Sean (Brittney) Stechly and Jacob Stechly; the great-grandfather of Brielle Paronish; and the uncle of many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Angeline Smarelli Stechly; a sister, Catherine Puskarich; and seven brothers, Stanley, John, Ben, Ted, Walter, Lawrence and George Stechly; and his second wife, Maureen “Stech” Stechly; and a stepson, John Stech.
