Louise Mirto Lowry

Louise Mirto Lowry, 96, of Ottawa, passed away at Ottawa Pavilion in Ottawa, Ill. She was a lifelong resident of Washington until moving to Ottawa, Illinois seven years ago, to be closer to her family.

Surviving are two sons, James (Sharon) Lowry and Vern (Carol) Lowry; five grandchildren, Christopher (Christine) Lowry, Autumn (Tony) Sanelli, Jessica (David) Lowry, Jason (Melissa) Lowry and April (Grant) Reed; eight great-grandchildren, Connor and Callie Lowry, Avery and Levi Husted, Evan and Riley Lowry and Griffin and Pierce Reed; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are her loving husband of 31 years, James D. Lowry, who passed in October, 1987; her parents, Prisco and Petronilla Pasquillo Mirto; brothers, Nick, January and James Mirto; and sisters, Theresa Polito, Carmella Ruscillo, Ann Verno, Jenny DeSarro and Evelyn Mirto.

Louise was a loving mother, grandma and Gigi. Being a child of the “Great Depression,” life was hard at times, but family and friends were always welcomed in her home, and no one ever left hungry or without a smile on their face.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, all services were private. A celebration of life will be planned for later this summer.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Immaculate Conception Church, 119 W. Chestnut Street, Washington, PA, 15301, where she was a member most of her life.
