John Volk
John Volk, 72, of Venetia, died a hero to his family, friends and medical community Sunday, June 27, 2021
He was born January 20, 1949, in New Eagle, a son of the late Michael and Regina Pastirak Volk.
John was employed as a pharmacist for 30 years working for CVS, Rite Aid, and most recently, Omni Care in Crafton. John was an alumnus of the University of Pittsburgh school of pharmacy. He was an avid golfer and Pittsburgh Penguins fan and a member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Monongahela.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Claudia Goslak Volk; a son, Brian (Shailyn) Volk of Washington; a daughter, Michelle (Paul Jr.) McElrath of Venetia; a brother, Michael Volk Jr. of Tulsa, Okla.; two sisters, Pauline Pierce of Harwood, Md. and Irene Volk of Mt. Lebanon; three grandchildren, Paul III, Bryant and Claudia; several nieces and nephews; friends, John Bukoski, Ron Shearer, Ray and Donna Miller; and his beloved dog, Matlock. Deceased are his dogs, Duke and Vlad.
Friends will be received 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Kegel Funeral Home, Inc., 3560 Washington Avenue, Finleyville. Panachida services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Funeral services will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Monongahela with Father Edward Pehanich as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray.
