Elva R. Stewart Mooney
Elva R. “Dumpy” Stewart Mooney, 80, of Washington, formerly of Greene County, died at 10 p.m., Friday, July 2, 2021, at home, following a lengthy illness.
She was born Monday, May 5, 1941 in Mt. Morris, a daughter of the late John Richard Stewart and Helen M. Barr Stewart.
Until 15 years ago, Mrs. Mooney lived most all of her life in Greene County.
Elva graduated from Waynesburg High School, Class of 1959. She retired from the Central Greene School District after having served as head cook at the Margaret Belle Miller Middle School.
Her husband, John W. Mooney, whom she married on May 26, 1978 survives. Also surviving are two stepdaughters, Jackie Barnes of Waynesburg, and Julia (Gary) Moore of Pittsburgh; several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; three sisters, Judy L. (Bill) Enlow of Centerville, Va., Lila S. (Joe) Ayersman of Waynesburg, and Sara D. Morris and Doug Lutz of Warren, Ohio; two brothers, Loye G. (Debbie) Stewart of Warren, Ohio, and Earl L. (Linda) Stewart of Mt. Morris; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are one daughter, Jennifer Rose Mooney; four sisters, Etta Jane Stewart, Mary Joan Krency, Lola Jean Tharp, and Lois Anne Pecjak; three brothers, John Barr Stewart, Alan Dale Stewart, and Glen Leon Stewart.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation. A public graveside service will be held at 1p.m. on Sunday, July 18, at the Cedar Grove Cemetery, Mt. Morris, PA 15349 with Pastor Lanfer Simpson officiating.

Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Mt. Morris, Pa.
