Maxine Elizabeth White Francis
Maxine Elizabeth White Francis, 95, passed away early Monday, July 5, 2021, in her home in West Alexander. She was born April 5, 1926, in West Alexander, a daughter of the late Curtis and Dorothy McKain White.
On March 1, 1947, Maxine married the late John Clyde Francis of Beham.
She was a graduate of the West Alexander High School Class of 1944. She was a life-long member of the West Alexander United Methodist Church, also a member of Winning Circle Sunday School Class, West Alexander American Legion Auxiliary, The Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Golden Agers.
Maxine enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially winning card games and Rummikub. She also enjoyed reading, quilting, canning food from her garden, traveling, and visiting her children. She loved to eat and there was never a food she wouldn’t try. She made delicious raspberry and strawberry pies and apple dumplings.
Maxine is survived by her five daughters, Dorothy (Floyd) Thomas of Canonsburg, Sandra (Thomas) Brownlee of Claysville, Carolyn (James) Huff of Arlington, Va., Mary Ann (Gary) Danley of West Finley and Betty Francis of Warrenton, Va.; two sons, John (Judy) Francis of West Alexander and the late Mark (Carol) Francis of Leesburg, Va.; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Bird, Chad Thomas, Jason Francis, Jodi Hildreth, Leeann, and Gail Marie Danley, Benjamin, Nathan, and Drew Francis; seven great-grandchildren; and a stepsister, Thelma Mackey.
In addition to her husband, Clyde and son, Mark, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Wilson; stepsisters Nancy Wiles and Florence Fonner; and stepmother Nellie White.
The family requests that all memorial contributions be made to the West Alexander United Methodist Church, 162 Main Street, West Alexander, PA 15376.
Visitation for Maxine will be held from 10 a.m. until the 1 p.m. time of service Friday, July 9, in West Alexander United Methodist Church.
