Kenneth Tritchler
Kenneth “Spike” Tritchler, 76, of Mount Morris, passed away Thursday, July 8, 2021, in Monongalia General Hospital, surrounded by family. He was born in March 1945, in Morgantown, W.Va., a son of the late Joseph “Buzz” and Mary Florence McCord Tritchler.
Spike was a graduate of University High school, where he was West Virginia state wrestling runner-up in 1963. He also served three years in the U.S. Army in the 101st Airborne. Upon his honorable discharge, he worked in the coal mines for 30 years and retired from Duquesne Light Warwick mine. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, horseshoes, and drinking Budweiser with his friends.
Spike is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart of 57 years, Mrs. Judy Phillips Tritchler of Mount Morris; daughter Bobbie Jo Craynon of Core, W.Va.; son Ken Tritchler II and wife Carly of Canonsburg; sister Louise Glash, and brother Gene Tritchler and wife Sheila, all of Morgantown. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Brianna Craynon and husband Lucas of Jakes Run, Kenneth Craynon of Core, and Kylan Tritchler of Canonsburg; along with several nieces, nephews, and longtime friend Rich White.
Spike was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Florence; son-in-law Michael Craynon; and brother-in-law James Glash.
The family will receive friends in the Fred Jenkins Funeral Home, 10 South High Street, Morgantown, WV 26501, from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 11, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. hour of services Monday, July 12. Spike will be laid to rest at the Cedar Grove Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the Mount Morris American Legion Post 992 and WVANG, Kingwood.
