Margaret Nan Owen

Margaret Nan Owen, 89, formerly of Washington, passed away Monday, July 5, 2021, in Alden Gardens Rehab Center in Aurora, Ill. She had been in declining health for the past six years.

She was born May 26, 1932, in Washington, a daughter of the late John V.B. and Treva Hana. Her twin died at birth.

Margaret attended Mt. Lookout School and graduated from Washington High School in 1950. She was primarily a homemaker, and previously worked as a reading specialist at 6th Ward grade school, as well as a dental assistant, and for Tim McGillen Insurance.

Margaret was an avid reader of mystery novels and enjoyed watching wildlife.

Surviving are a son, John M. Garrett (Kimberly) of Lisle, Ill.; two grandchildren, Shallan Garrett and USAF Maj. Zachary K.D. Garrett (Jolene); and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bernard L. Garrett; and her second husband, David W. Owen.

Burial will be at Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery in Glyde, in a private ceremony at a later date.
