John G. Turk Jr.
John G. Turk Jr., 91, of McDonald, died Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at McMurray Hills Manor.
He was born November 5, 1929, in Sheboygan, Wis., a son of John and Emma Strupeck Turk.
Mr. Turk was a graduate of Midway High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He worked as a laborer for Homestead Industries, now Jenny Corporation in Coraopolis, and retired in 1991. He was a member of the United Steelworkers of America.
Mr. Turk enjoyed cutting grass at the family farm with his brother. He loved woodworking and carpentry.
On June 4, 1952, he married Anita Martinek, who died April 1, 1998.
Surviving are two children, John Randall “Randy” (Barb) Turk of Washington and Suzanne (Mike) Powell of McDonald; two brothers, James Turk and Richard (Georgeanne) Turk, both of McDonald; seven grandchildren, Justin (Chrissy) Turk, Stephen (Ashley) Santi, Heather (Ryan) Ruth, Christopher Powell, Jamie (Luke) Dami, Mandy Powell and Katie (George) Miller; eight great-grandchildren, Dominic and Teagan Turk, Coleson, Madalyn, Rylee and Reese Santi, Jeremy Ruth and George Miller III; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two brothers, Gilbert (Lila Mae) Turk of McDonald and Roger (Carole) Turk of McDonald.
Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday in Nation Funeral Home, Inc., 220 E. Lincoln Avenue, McDonald, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 24, with Rev. Sue Petritis officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Hickory. Memorial contributions are suggested to a charity of one’s choice.
