Victor Vandewater
Victor Charles “Vic” Vandewater, 84, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, Monday, July 19, 2021.
Vic was the loving husband to Mary Ann Suchan Vandewater for 61 years; father to Renee Slaski, Victor J. Vandewater and Kevin (Melissa) Vandewater; cherished Pap Pap to Morgan, Evan, Dean and Nathan; treasured son of the late Victor John and Catherine Vandewater; caring brother of the late Dolores McDonough. Vic is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Vic graduated from Westview High School, and worked as a sales representative for 38 years at Alling & Cory Paper Co. until his retirement.
Vic was a longtime member of St. Benedict the Abbot, where he served as a past officer and president of the Bens Men’s Club. He also was a major fundraiser for the American Cancer Society and National Right for Life.
Vic enjoyed being outside in the warm sunshine: gardening, nature and driving through the country. He also took joy in dining out, wine trips, traveling with his beloved wife, and most of all going to Myrtle Beach with his family every year.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Victor’s life from 2 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 23, in Beinhauers located at 2828 Washington Road, McMurray, 724-941-3211. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday July 24, in St. John XXIII-St. Benedict the Abbot Church, 120 Abington Drive, McMurray, PA 15317. Entombment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
