Wesley R. Schmeltz Jr.
Wesley R. “Wes” Schmeltz Jr., 77, of Finleyville, died Wednesday, July 28, 2021, in Jefferson Hospital, with his family by his side.
He was born June 28, 1944, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Wesley and Eleanor Anderson Schmeltz.
Wes was a member of 1st Christian Church in Monongahela and former member of the Finleyville Volunteer Fire Department.
In retirement, he enjoyed golfing and a good cigar but nothing made him happier than cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events.
Surviving are his wife, Arlene Gibson Schmeltz; two sons, Mark (Jen) Schmeltz of Baldwin and Matt (Kelli) Schmeltz of North Strabane; a daughter, Amy (Michael) Clopp of North Strabane; six grandchildren, Josh, Emily, Abbey, Tyler, Bryan and Elizabeth; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is his sister, Peggy Mohoney.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 29, and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 30, in Kegel Funeral Home Inc., David P. Kegel, Supervisor, 3560 Washington Avenue, Finleyville. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 31, in the funeral home with Rev. Gene Hydrick officiating. Interment will follow in Finleyville Cemetery.
