William James Hutson
William James “Bill” Hutson, 86, of Washington, died Tuesday, June 1, 2021, in Strabane Woods.
He was born February 10, 1935, in East Finley, a son of the late Ivan and Karen Willis Hutson.
A graduate of Trinity High School, he was a member of Bethel Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Prosperity.
Bill was a veteran of the United States Army, serving as a military policeman, until his honorable discharge November 8, 1957.
Mr. Hutson worked for 31 years for South Franklin Township Road Crew, and for 18 years he was the township supervisor.
A jack-of-all-trades, Bill loved woodworking, making furniture, and restoring antique automobiles. He also loved playing bingo.
He was a member of the South Franklin Volunteer Fire Department.
Despite his early years in foster care, Bill was very happy and lived a very fulfilling life.
On February 3, 1956, he married Susan Dague, who died April 17, 2001.
Surviving are two sons, Frederick James (Terry) Hutson of Washington and Thomas Allen (Melanie) Hutson of Washington; five daughters, Carol J. (Larry) McFarland of Riverside, Calif., Sharon Lee (Edward) Kalansky of Washington, Beth Ann (Bruce) Graham of Washington, Rebecca Sue (Jerry) McFarland of Middleburg, Fla., and Christina Marie (Brian) Geho of Washington; a sister, Lois (Morris) Holcombe of Lindon, Utah; 13 grandchildren, Larry Jr., William, Matt, Jason, Elizabeth, Phillip, Julie, Sarah, Kevin, Cassandra, Zachery, Jennifer and Margie; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a brother, Robert Hutson; and three sisters, Nellie May Hutson, Sally Bernard and Virginia Hutson.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 6, in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 7, in the Bethel Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 3905 Park Avenue, Prosperity, PA 15329, with Pastor George Crawford officiating. All those planning to attend the service are asked to please meet at the church. There will be a procession from the church to Prosperity Cemetery for graveside services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the South Franklin Volunteer Fire Department, 101 Jolly School Road, Washington, PA 15301.
