Jeanne G. Donell
Jeanne G. Donell, 82, of Cambridge, Ohio, formerly of Weirton, W.Va., and Washington, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2021, in Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She was born July 18, 1938, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late Albert and Sara Watson Gamble.
Jeanne was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church in Cambridge, and a longtime member of Trinity Church in Washington. Through her lifetime, Jeanne attended many fellowships and shared her love of the Lord with many people from many congregations.
She graduated from Washington Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse at Washington Hospital for 26 years. She retired from Citizens Library at age 75 after many years of volunteering and mission work around the world, where she loved helping others. She treasured her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren above all.
Jeanne is survived by daughter Susan L. Dettra (Lanny) and their children, Tyler Dettra and Kaitlyn Hardesty; son Richard C. Donell Jr. and his children, David Gaston, Zachery and Kayla Donell; and son Michael T. Donell (Dawn) and their children, Bailey and Julia Donell; four great-grandchildren; and brother Allen D. Gamble.
According to Jeanne’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Weirton, W.Va.
A graveside service will take place at noon on Wednesday, June 23, at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Cambridge.
Also, friends and family are invited to celebrate Jeanne’s remarkable life at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, July 18, at the Wagon Shelter in Oglebay Park, Wheeling.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
