Lois Ann Shaffer
Lois Ann Shaffer, 68, of Houston, went home to Jesus March 1, 2021, after a five year battle with health complications.
She was born April 9, 1952, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late Walter K. and Florence A. Stone Beam.
Mrs. Shaffer was a 1970 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School. She attended Michigan State University but came home to help with unexpected family situations.
She worked as a nurse’s aide at Canonsburg Hospital and went on to work at Mayview State Hospital for over 30 years as a mental health aide.
Lois was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend that loved helping others. She enjoyed charity work and reading a good book. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her.
Lois was a member of Central Assembly of God in Houston.
In January of 1982, she married Charles “Bill” Shaffer, who survives.
Also surviving are two children, William Luke Shaffer of Washington and Kimberly Anne King-Okorn (Zachary) of Houston; seven grandchildren, Alex Shaffer, Alexes Shaffer, Rosalyn King, Kelsey Knox, Isabella King, Nathaniel King and Chase Okorn; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends who loved her.
To honor Lois and her final wishes, all services are private. There will be a celebration of life memorial picnic at a later date for all who loved her.
Arrangements have been entrusted to McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Hydrocephalus Association, Development Office, 4340 East West Highway, #905, Bethesda, MD 20814-4447, hydroassoc.org, or to go out and do a random act of kindness.
