Paul Lee Ames, 68, of Washington, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, February 28, 2021, in the Washington Hospital Emergency Room.

He was born May 5, 1952, in Washington, a son of the late Paul E. Ames and Mary Ann Young Ames of Washington, who survives.

Mr. Ames was a 1970 graduate of Trinity High School and was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He worked as a self-employed home builder for most of his life and later began working for James Hull at Trigon up until his retirement.

Mr. Ames was a member of the National Rifle Assocation, was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting in his younger years. He at one time also enjoyed archery. Mr. Ames loved to take trips in his motor home out west and down south and he loved his yearly trips to Jamboree in the Hills. He also enjoyed working in his garden and was a true outdoorsman. Most of all, Mr. Ames cherished the times that he spent with his family. He will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.

In addition to his father, Mr. Ames was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Paul S. and Anna Ames; and by his maternal grandparents, William O. and Myrtle Young.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 4, in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Avenue, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Supervisor/Director, Susan Falvo Warco, Director, S. Timothy Warco II, Director.

Those wishing to visit the funeral home are asked to please wear a facial covering and state occupancy regulations will be adhered to.

Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of a funeral service, Friday, March 5, in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Scenery Hill, with the Rev. William B. Henry Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery.
