George J. Jae

George J. Jae, 87, of Fredericktown (Deemston Borough), passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 2, 2021, while in the care of family members.

He was born June 23, 1933, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late George H. and Gertrude S. Stenglein Jae and was raised in Peters Township.

Mr. Jae was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War, from 1953 to 1955.

George was a self-employed life-long farmer beginning in 1961 and still working at the time of his death.

He was a long-time member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish, Richeyville Campus.

In addition to his passion for farming, he also enjoyed woodworking. He was a very willing friend and mentor to many. George used his talents to inspire others and his willingness to help knew no bounds.

The family is deeply appreciative of the care and support provided by OSPTA Hospice.

Surviving are a sister, Gertrude J. Echement (John) of Pleasant Hills; a brother, Paul H. Jae (Elaine) of Sunnyvale, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Jae of Deemston Borough; two nephews; eight nieces; nine great-nephews and 11 great-nieces.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, is a brother, David A. Jae.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 4, in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, Ltd., 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, where a prayer service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 5, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Katharine Drexel Parish, Richeyville Campus, with the Rev. Edward Yuhas officiating. Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray.

In accordance with Covid-19 guidelines, facial coverings and social distancing will be required.
